Seodaemun Museum of Natural History

Last week my school took the students and us teachers on a field trip to the Museum of Natural History in Seodaemun, Seoul. I haven't been to many natural history museums besides the one in London, but from what I could tell this seemed to be a pretty good one, with lots of cool and informative dioramas, models and skeletons, as you'd expect. Here are some photos I took along the way.

A small park area near the entrance to the museum.
The children ate their snacks beneath a maemi-infested tree.
A male maemi, or cicada, possibly the loudest insect in Korea. It makes a drawn-out chirping noise with its mostly hollow abdomen.
Entering the museum.

Justin poses as we watch a 3D film about the creation of the earth.

In the rock section.
Justin, Grace and Hans, 3 of my cutest students.
NYU class play with an interactive map of Korea.
We spent some time outside on a balcony inhabited by dinosaurs.
Kids from another school, inside a dino egg.
Aicha-Teacher, Grace-Teacher, T-Rex and me with some of our students.

Cornell and Harvard classes underneath a brachiosaurus.
Alexa, Colin and Alex sit with a stegosaurus.

Harvard and Cornell classes stand with an elephant...
...and with a stegosaurus skeleton.

Leaving the museum.

Around lunchtime we took the shuttle bus back to ECC. The museum provided a fun morning field trip, which the kids seemed to enjoy, and it seemed a great place for families to visit.
